Upcoming seminars, webinars and videos: all the latest news from the Prairie Institute

Two years ago, the newsletter informed you of the launch and inauguration of the Prairie Institute, one of four French Interdisciplinary Institutes of Artificial Intelligence which were set up as part of the French artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, announced in March 2018.

The institute, set up by the CNRS, Inria, the Institut Pasteur, Université PSL, Université de Paris and a consortium of industry partners, is involved in a wide range of projects and initiatives with the aim of sharing its knowledge and progress on AI and becoming a world leader in research and higher education in the field of AI. With seminars, webinars and a dedicated YouTube channel, you can check out all the work and activities of the Prairie Institute.

  • The Prairie seminar, now a monthly event

The Prairie seminar features talks by researchers in the field of AI and its applications. It is open to a wide public and presents AI issues and research happening at the Institute and throughout the world. The event alternates between a seminar given by a chair holder of the Prairie Institute and a presentation by an internationally renowned researcher from the outside world. The sessions are organized as a webinar in English.

The next edition of this now monthly event will be on February 10. The speaker will be Joan Bruna from New York University who will talk on "Mathematical aspects of neural network approximation and learning".

  • Launch of a series of webinars entitled "France is AI [talks]"

The Prairie Institute has recently launched a partnership with France Digitale for a series of webinars entitled "France is AI [talks]". This monthly event features presentations by leading French researchers in the field of artificial intelligence who are based abroad. The first webinar in the series was on January 27. The speaker was Martial Hebert, a Professor of Robotics and Dean of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie-Mellon University.
