Bioinformatics and Biostatistics courses for PhDs: second session of the Common Core day on February 11-12, 2021

The Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Hub offers bioinformatics courses dedicated primarily to first-year PhD students at the institute. In the age of Big Data and computational biology, it is crucial to give young biology researchers the foundations of reproducible research: from the design of optimal experiments giving reliable and robust results, to the analysis of their own data in autonomy, while at the same time getting to know the bioinformaticians and statisticians on campus.

Courses are organized into modules that last from three hours to three days full time. For this academic year, they have been enriched with phylogeny, metagenomics or single cell data analysis modules.

These courses are in English and begin with mandatory two-half days for all PhD students. The first session of this common core took place online in October 2020. A second session will be organized online on February 11-12 for students who arrived after October 15 or missed the first session. This Common Core day offers an introduction to reproducible research with classes about experimental design, computer science and reproducibility. This year, an introduction to ethics in science is also offered.
