At the meeting of the Scientific Council on October 5 and 6, the members elected Arnaud Echard as Chair of the Scientific Council for a two-year term. He takes over from James Di Santo, who had reached the end of his term.
Arnaud Echard, a Research Director (DR1) at the CNRS and Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique, has led the Membrane Traffic and Cell Division Unit in the Department of Cell Biology and Infection since 2010.
He obtained a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2000 and then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UCSF, in the United States, before joining the CNRS in 2003.
Arnaud Echard has received several awards for his achievements in the field of research, including the prize from the Schlumberger Foundation for Education in Research in 2011, the Georges Zermati Prize from the Fondation de France in 2017 and the Gustave Roussy Award from the French Academy of Sciences in 2018.
He was President of the French Society for Cell Biology from 2015 to 2018 and chaired the COMESP from 2016 to 2018.
Arnaud Echard had served as Secretary of the Scientific Council since 2019.
Alongside this new appointment, Michaela Müller-Trutwin was appointed as Vice-Chair and Jean-Marc Ghigo as Secretary of the Scientific Council.
