Sign up for the Introduction to the relationship between science and society course

The aim of this course is to investigate recent developments in the relationship between science and society and to provide answers and points for discussion on the questions raised by these developments. It is primarily aimed at PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and young researchers but is open to everyone interested in the topic, both scientists and non-scientists.

The course will take place at the Institut Pasteur from March 16 to April 5, 2017, one day a week (Thursday March 16, then the following three Wednesdays: March 22 and 29 and April 5). The mornings will consist of teaching sessions. In the afternoons, discussions will be held about relevant literature or questions put to participants. A final half-day will be held in April for participants to present their conclusions to the course speakers and other scientists. Topics will include the philosophy of science and ethics, developments in the sociology of science, writing, controversy and fraud, science and innovation.
