Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
Gender week, aimed at promoting gender equality at the Institut Pasteur, was held on campus from September 27 to 30.
Several events including conferences, round tables, information sessions, training workshops and coffee chats were organized throughout the week dedicated to equality and working better together. A great many of you took part in this event aimed at encouraging awareness and collective action.
A wide range of resources are now available to you on the Webcampus page devoted to Gender Week.
Here you have access to resources of the different events run (conferences, round tables, training and awareness-raising sessions) as well as the replay of the Tuesday 27th afternoon conference and the video capsule on leadership.
The inaugural conference on Tuesday September 27 in the CIS was an opportunity to reaffirm the Institut Pasteur's strong commitment to gender equality in the workplace.
Stewart Cole, Odile Hermabessière and Mariana Mesel-Lemoine spoke in turn about the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) and the different measures to be implemented. The Gender Equality Plan marks a major milestone in our policy to promote equality, diversity and inclusion. It can be consulted here. A selection of quality speakers – Christiane Schreiweis, Pierre Deschamps, Caroline de Haas, Barbara de Micheli, Alvine Tremoulet and Aude Bernheim – addressed three key themes: unconscious bias, sexist violence and the glass ceiling, that were mirrored in acted-out scenes.

The training workshops held throughout the day on Thursday September 29 focusing on leadership, communication and working relationships were also a resounding success, demonstrating interest in the topics covered: overall workshop attendance was 300 people.
The training materials are available below. With, as a special bonus, a video capsule by David Bitton on leadership that can also be viewed here.

The week was rounded off with two coffee chats on Friday September 30, enabling participants to discuss and share their thoughts in English:
• a meeting with Marie-Caroline Chauvet (HBA – Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association) and Diane Gabriel (Insigniam) on the issue of the glass ceiling. The "Develop your leadership brand" document is available here.
• The afternoon "chill café" focusing on the topic "Striking a balance between personal and professional life" run by Hanna Julienne and Rachel Torchet from the "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Institut Pasteur" group (DEI). This group is present via Teams (click here). It organizes a number of online or in-person events and activities that include discussions, informal chats, and opportunities to share knowledge and experience on the issues of diversity, inclusion and gender equality in particular. The Teams group and the channels are open to everyone, both men and women, scientific and support staff. In Teams, in the "Files" section, you will find a list of upcoming topics, the calendar, suggested reading and a best practice guide.
