Ribosomal RNA: turning a problem into a tool

Five members of the Pasteur Network have published the results of a study on mosquito ribosomal RNA. As well as releasing 234 complete ribosomal RNA sequences from 33 mosquito species to public databases, the study presents the bioinformatics methodology used to assemble these sequences and assesses the use of ribosomal RNA as a molecular marker for taxonomic and phylogenetic purposes.
