Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The ceremony got under way with Valérie Masson Delmotte, a paleoclimatologist at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and influential member of the IPCC.
The guest speaker, who featured on TIME's 2022 list of the 100 most influential people in the world, captivated the guests with a fascinating lecture on the alarming realities of climate change that we need to tackle now and the possible measures that can be taken to reduce their impact.
Her lecture gave way to smiles, laughs and emotions as the PhD students gave their presentations, describing their student experiences, moments of joy and also difficulties encountered during the periods of isolation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event also showcased the achievements of some of the PhD students from the Pasteur Network, who came from different continents to share their stories and experiences with the assembled guests.
The presentations were interspersed with Pasteurian musical interludes.
The music then continued as the festivities got under way. With champagne and canapés in hand, the Institut Pasteur's newly decorated doctoral graduates, guests and organizers took to the dance floor in a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
The Department of Education would like to thank all those who helped make the graduation ceremony a resounding success!
Next year's graduation ceremony will take place on December 6, 2024 at 3pm. The guest speaker will be Sir Shankar Balasubramanian FRS, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Cambridge and co-inventor of next-generation sequencing (NGS).
