Gender equality in the workplace: key figures

The Institut Pasteur is committed to gender equality and has embarked on a number of initiatives that have led to real progress. In particular, it received the European HR Excellence in Research Award in recognition of its implementation of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) in 2021, it published a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) in 2022, and it has established a dedicated Employee Resources Group (ERG). All these initiatives are not just a way of making progress on key issues; they are also measurable and provide us with figures to show how far we have come.

Publication of the Professional Gender Equality Index

In early March, the Institut Pasteur published its Professional Gender Equality Index for 2023, as required by French law since 2019, achieving a score of 99/100. This outstanding result, one point higher than last year, reflects a successful collective effort on the issue of gender equality. But it is crucial that we do not let our guard down. We remain committed to strengthening our policies and practices on gender equality, especially by ensuring that women have access to a fair promotion system at all levels of our institution. This means pursuing and stepping up our initiatives to identify and eliminate systemic barriers to the advancement of women, cultivating an inclusive working environment and actively encouraging diversity in all our teams.
