2024 Olympic Games: don't miss the Olympic torch when it comes to Rue Vaugirard on July 15!

The torch, a powerful symbol of the Olympic Games, began its circuit around France a month ago. It was lit on April 16 in the sanctuary of Olympia, Greece, kindled by the sun's rays in accordance with the ancient tradition. It was then brought by boat to Marseille, where it began a circuit around France that will continue until July 26. On July 15, the torch relay will cross the 15th arrondissement and pass in front of the Institut Pasteur. Make sure you don't miss it!

The flame will pass through no fewer than 64 French territories so that it can be seen by as many people as possible throughout the country. After crossing the Aube département, the flame will arrive in Paris on July 14, French National Day, and will stay in the French capital for two days. It will be carried through the central districts of Paris before heading to the outer districts on July 15.

This second day will see the torch taken on a circuit that highlights other monuments and historical sites in Paris. The route will begin at the symbolic site of INSEP, the National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance. It will then head to the Sacré-Cœur before being carried to the Arc de Triomphe. After passing through Place du Trocadéro, it will be taken to Place Denfert-Rochereau and then the Parc des Buttes Chaumont. The final stop of the day will be Place de la République.

On the route on July 15, after leaving the town hall in the 15th arrondissement (Rue Péclet) at 2.34pm, the torch will head down Rues Pétel, Lecourbe and Maublanc before arriving at Rue Vaugirard from 2.39 to 2.51pm, passing in front of the Institut Pasteur. It will then be handed over to another torchbearer before turning onto Boulevard Pasteur.

Institut Pasteur staff interested in attending the event will be able to access the relay route directly as the Security Department will exceptionally open the Vaugirard access from  1 to 4pm. As usual when entering or leaving campus, please bring your badge with you.

Make sure you don't miss this opportunity to participate in a unique moment, a symbol of unity and peace, that will not only spread the Olympic spirit and values as it passes by but will also mark the start of the Olympic celebrations!
