Pasteur Network: Institut Pasteur Korea celebrates its 20th anniversary

On May 30, Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK) celebrated its 20th anniversary at a ceremony attended by Lee Chang Yune, First Vice Minister in the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the French Ambassador to Korea, Philippe Bertoux. Also in attendance was Odette Tomescu-Hatto, Executive Vice-President, International Affairs. Ambassador Philippe Bertoux took the opportunity to emphasize the key role played by IPK in French-Korean cooperation in the field of health.
 
Sung Key Jang, current CEO of IPK, together with his predecessors who had come together to mark the occasion, then spoke about IPK's scientific achievements over the past 20 years. Ulf Nehrbass, the first CEO of IPK, particularly mentioned the launch of startup Quirient and the key role played by IPK in discovering drugs to combat diseases such as tuberculosis.

The opening ceremony was followed by an international symposium featuring key players in international scientific research such as Prof. Charles M. Rice, laureate of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Prof. Félix Rey from the Institut Pasteur gave a lecture at the event.
