Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The appraisals and career development reviews will begin on Monday November 25 and continue until January 28, 2025.
Please note that appraisal and career development forms will need to be approved by January 8 at the latest for Compro promotion requests for non-scientific staff and requests to advance from technician to engineer status.
The forms will be available on the Career Portal (Talentsoft) via this link from Monday November 25.
Appraisals and career development reviews in practice
As a reminder, the annual appraisal campaign includes:
• annual appraisals,
• promotion requests for non-scientific staff ("Compro" – forms also have to be completed for staff wishing to advance from technician to engineer status),
• career development reviews, with detailed career development reviews for employees with more than six years of service (legal obligations) who have not had a career review during the past 6 years.
The appraisal campaign applies to all staff at the Institut Pasteur, except for those on fixed-term contracts of less than six months, PhD students and contract workers. Since 2022, all postdoctoral fellows have also received an appraisal as part of the campaign.
This year's campaign will take place from Monday November 25 to January 28, 2025 (online forms involving promotion requests will need to be approved by January 8, 2025 at the latest).
Annual appraisal campaign scope
The appraisal system involves:
• One annual appraisal (reviewing activities in 2024, setting targets for 2025 and the training needs for 2025);
• One career development review (designed to review staff career development and short- and medium-term career plans). This is a legal obligation that must be carried out at least every two years from the employee's recruitment date.
In addition to the career development review, there is an obligation for all employees with more than six years of service this year to be invited to attend a more detailed career review meeting (both meetings are legal obligations).
The campaign is linked to promotion requests for non-scientific staff at the Institut Pasteur (ComPro - please click here).
Help and Guidance
Scheduling appraisals
The Human Resources Department would like to draw your attention to the fact that this year's campaign starts on November 25 and would encourage you to begin scheduling sessions well in advance. Make sure you allow enough time for an in-depth discussion: an hour and a half is a good guideline.
Preparing for appraisals
To help you prepare for this campaign, the Human Resources Department has organised some training and information sessions.
This year, training sessions were also available with the "Training of the month" initiative with a focus on "The art of giving and receiving feedback." These interactive videoconference sessions involve illustrations of appraisals and a range of advice. The aim is to boost the culture of feedback, both on a daily basis and also during appraisals.
- Two sessions have been scheduled for all staff on November 7 and 14.
The next session aimed at managers will take place on Tuesday November 26 from 2 to 3.15pm.

As every year, training workshops lasting three and a half hours are also available for managers to help with conducting appraisals. The session entitled "Conducting constructive annual appraisals: tools and best practices" is available at three different times: December 10 from 2 to 5.30pm and December 11 from 9.30am to 1pm or 2 to 5.30pm.
