Lecture/debate on March 15, 2025: "Disinformation: when our brain gets deluded"

As part of Brain Awareness Week from March 10 to 16, 2025, the Institut Pasteur is inviting you to come and listen to philosophers, neuroscientists and clinicians as they unpick how our brain and our emotions influence our vulnerability to fake news.

The lecture will take place on Saturday March 15, from 2 to 5pm, in the Emile Duclaux lecture hall. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions to the following speakers:

•    Mathias Girel (philosopher)
•    Samah Karaki (neuroscientist)
•    Chantal Henry (psychiatrist)

The aim of the lecture/debate is to present a summary of the latest knowledge on the brain's vulnerability when exposed to fake news and the neuropsychological mechanisms that may encourage people to share misinformation. How should we deal with information overload? Does this avalanche of information make us more intelligent? More vigilant? How are knowledge, awareness, opinions and decisions constructed? How can our brain be misled? How does our mood affect our view of the world?
