A new fundraising initiative: "Merci pour eux®" bags in pharmacies

The "Merci pour eux®" ("Thanks on their behalf") project has been set up to raise funds by encouraging people to buy reusable bags in pharmacies. The proceeds go to five foundations, including the Institut Pasteur.

For the past few months, pharmacists have been selling reusable plastic bags and durable shopping bags in aid of five major foundations involved in medical research and disability assistance, including the Institut Pasteur.

The reusable "Merci pour eux®" bags cost 20 euro cents each, with 55% of the sale price (excl. VAT) going to the chosen foundations. The sturdier shopping bags are sold for €1.50, with 70% of the sale price going to the foundations.

The aim of this initiative is to turn something as simple and routine as buying a shopping bag into a charitable act that is accessible to everyone. Every cent counts, and this "Merci pour eux®" initiative can make a real difference to the work of the five foundations – thereby helping to advance the Institut Pasteur's research.

With 4.5 million customers using the 22,000 pharmacies across France every day, up to €50 million could be raised each year and divided equally between the five beneficiary foundations.

A small gesture can make a big difference for these worthy causes!
