Jean-Baptiste Masson, Ambassador for AI in Health for the "Osez l'IA" plan launched by government minister Clara Chappaz

On July 1, Clara Chappaz, French Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, launched the "Osez l'IA" ("Dare to Embrace AI") plan to speed up the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in all economic sectors. The minister emphasized specific initiatives and the launch of a network of AI ambassadors in different fields, in conjunction with the relevant ministries, to highlight useful and accessible applications of AI in every sector and encourage take-up by companies.

Jean-Baptiste Masson, Head of the Decision and Bayesian Computation Unit, was appointed as "Ambassador for AI in Health," one of a network of 300 ambassadors who will be working alongside companies to explain how AI can improve their business and how they can implement it.

•   Ambassadors to the general public (company managers, sports people, artists, etc.) will share their vision of AI in their sector and the ways in which they use it themselves;

•   Sector-specific and regional ambassadors in conjunction with France Num, the French Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Bpifrance, French Tech and various regional networks, such as the network of subprefects established to encourage the implementation of the France 2030 plan, will travel to different areas to answer questions related to real-life situations.

The role of ambassador is undertaken on a voluntary basis and involves one to two days per year spent on targeted activities:
•    Occasional attendance of events alongside the minister (launches, trade fairs, major industry events);
•    Participation in working meetings or thematic workshops with the minister and the AI ecosystem;
•    Testimonials – videos, interviews and social media posts promoting the use of AI in their sector;
•    Highlighting areas where simplification is needed, specific obstacles or drivers for the adoption of AI;
•    Identifying use cases or pilot projects to be promoted.

"Clara's initiative aims to ensure that the whole industrial fabric, spanning from micro businesses to major corporations, sees AI as an opportunity within easy reach and can find a network of contacts to assist with integration. AI is both an essential infrastructure and daily tool for ensuring that French businesses are competitive and their productivity does not decline compared with that of the United States and China. With Stéphanie Allassoniere, we will be delighted to help create a continuum between the research and education initiatives of PR[AI]RIE (of which the Institut Pasteur and INRIA are founding members) and the "Osez l'IA" initiative in the field of health", said Jean-Baptiste Masson, also PR[AI]RIE Chair holder.
