Pasteurdon 2018 campaign: 5 days to go – "Defending research together!"

For the 12th edition of Pasteurdon, the Institut Pasteur has chosen to focus on research, and especially on those who embody it best: its scientists. The film for this year's "Defending research together" (Défendons la recherche) campaign subtly illustrates the threats facing scientists. Test tubes, beakers and Petri dishes are seen shattering into pieces then being put together again – a powerful image that emphasizes the urgent need for action to give medical research the resources it needs to move forward.

For the past 130 years, the Institut Pasteur has been tenaciously leading the fight, but given the new health threats we are facing – infectious diseases like Zika and Ebola, antibiotic resistance, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, cancer and many more – there is an increasing need for funds to support scientists' work, as the new campaign reminds us. If the Institut Pasteur is to continue making major scientific discoveries, it needs public support more than ever.
