The Institut Pasteur gets involved in the "Nuit Blanche": a look back on a unique event with the museum

On October 6, the District Hall of the 15th arrondissement and the Institut Pasteur invited visitors to an evening outing for the 2018 edition of the "Nuit Blanche" night-time event in Paris.

An impressive 614 visitors came along for a unique glimpse into the daily life of the father of modern biology with a visit to the apartment belonging to Louis and Marie Pasteur, which has been preserved as it would have been at the time. They also found out about lesser-known aspects of Pasteur's life, such as his talents as a painter.

The night owls were given special access to the Salle des Actes, which serves as a striking example of how contemporary art can inhabit a space that still bears the imprint of the past. The display cases in this historical venue – where the Institut Pasteur officially came into being all those years ago – have been specially redesigned by Hervé Di Rosa, a proponent of the concept of "modest art".

This unique edition was a real success. The Mayor of the 15th arrondissement, Philippe Goujon, was among those that came along.
