Memos on the Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee

  • Creation of the Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee

On December 1, 2018, the Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee (CISC) was set up, replacing the former Ethics Monitoring and Conciliation Committee (CVDC).

1/ This committee is tasked with overseeing compliance with the Institut Pasteur's Code of Scientific Ethics.

2/ Its responsibilities are as follows:
- Issuing opinions and recommendations to the President on alleged breaches of scientific integrity;
- Proposing solutions to interpersonal conflicts and attempting to reconcile those involved, especially when it comes to determining intellectual contributions to publications and invention disclosures;
- Proposing amendments to the Institut Pasteur's Code of Scientific Ethics;
- Issuing recommendations and offering general guidance and expertise on these issues.

3/ The CISC intervenes in matters involving all scientific staff (employees, OREX, interns, PhD students, etc.).

4/ The CISC is composed as follows:
- One retired scientist from the Institut Pasteur, who also chairs the committee;
- Two scientific managers employed at the Institut Pasteur for at least five years (or retired) who have shown interest in issues relating to scientific integrity;
- A staff member employed at the Institut Pasteur for at least five years but not necessarily a scientific manager, who has shown interest in issues relating to scientific integrity.

Unless otherwise specified, the members serve on the committee for a four-year term, renewable once.

5/ The Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee will continue the activities of the Ethics Monitoring and Conciliation Committee and will therefore take over any ongoing or outstanding work started by this committee.

  • Members of the Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee

In view of Decision 866 of November 26 on the Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee;

Since the committee is to be composed as follows:
- One retired scientist from the Institut Pasteur, who also chairs the committee;
- Two scientific managers employed at the Institut Pasteur for at least five years (or retired) who have shown interest in issues relating to scientific integrity;
- A staff member employed at the Institut Pasteur for at least five years but not necessarily a scientific manager, who has shown interest in issues relating to scientific integrity;

The President appoints the following individuals as members of the committee:

- François Rougon, Chairman – for two years,
- Benoit Robert – for four years,
- Armelle Phalipon – for two years,
- Corinne Sarrazin – for four years.
