Drinking water and wastewater statistics at the Institut Pasteur

The first estimates of drinking water consumption in 2018 are now available. Approximately 367,900m3 of water was consumed on campus in 2018 – the equivalent of 5,040 bathtubs each day.

Water is a resource that is becoming increasingly scarce: over the past 75 years, the volume of drinking water available per person per year has fallen more than threefold. The Quality, Environment and Sustainable Development Department in the Technical Resources and Environment Department has therefore produced a series of posters (see below) with ideas on how you can do your bit to preserve this valuable resource.

At the other end of the chain, you can also help to reduce the pollution generated via wastewater discharged into drainage systems. Make sure you remember to use all the available waste disposal streams.

Every little helps!
