Rules on using the entrance at 205, rue de Vaugirard

Following the first few weeks of use of the access point at 205, rue de Vaugirard, please find below some advice on using the entrance gates:

1. Badging

The readers installed at the Vaugirard entrance work using various technologies. To make sure your badge is read properly, you need to hold it against the upper part of the reader (by the words "Badgez ici" – "Badge here"). The lower part with a red laser is for use with the QR codes published for attendees of conferences organized by the Conference Center.

Here is an explanatory diagram

2. Entering the gates
The intrusion alarms have been set off several times at the Vaugirard access point. These alarms are set off when someone enters before the doors open fully, or when the doors are forced open. If this happens, the entrance goes into security mode and closes immediately, preventing anyone from entering.
To avoid this, please wait for the doors to open fully before entering. The time lag settings have been configured with this in mind. The entrance will close quickly behind you as soon as the sensor is no longer activated.
If you have luggage or bags, please keep them close to you when you enter.

3. Anti-passback

Previously, employees could lend their badge to forgetful colleagues or pass it to visitors wishing to access the campus.

Following a rise in this behavior which has led to incidents on campus, an anti-passback system has been introduced for this access point. This feature prevents an individual from entering the same area twice without first exiting the area – in other words, using a badge several times at the same reader within a set amount of time. It removes any possibility of using a single badge to open the entrance for several people.

The anti-passback system will soon be introduced at all turnstiles on campus.

4. Opening times
The access point is open to all Institut Pasteur staff, Orex and interns from 7am to 8pm. It may not be used by service providers or visitors.
The access point is also open to attendees of conferences organized by the Institut Pasteur Conference Center. This may result in large numbers of visitors arriving between 8 and 9am.

Please make sure you comply with the rules for accessing campus via this entrance, where many abuses have recently been observed.
