The members of the Institut Pasteur General Meeting met on Friday June 21.
During its session it approved the Board of Directors' Annual Report and the 2018 accounts (in French) by a unanimous show of hands.
The members also approved the minutes of the General Meeting of June 11, 2018.
As required by the articles of association, the General Meeting renewed half of the elected members of the Board of Directors – a total of eight (8) out of the 16 members. Half of the elected members, appointed for six (6) years, are renewed every three years in each category. The new members are elected for a term of six (6) years, which will run until 2025.
The General Meeting also replaced two Board members who recently resigned. The term of the elected replacement members will run until the date on which the term of those they are replacing would normally have come to an end, in three (3) years' time (in 2022).
The members elected at the session of 21 June are:
Three members working at the Institut Pasteur, chosen for their scientific expertise (art. 3B (a) of the articles of association):
- Félix Rey, Head of the Structural Virology Unit (for a second term)
- Artur Scherf, Head of the Biology of Host–Parasite Interactions Unit (for a second term)
- Sandrine Etienne-Manneville, Head of the Cell Polarity, Migration and Cancer Unit (for a first term) to replace the resigning member (Fabrice Chrétien)
One member of the Institut Pasteur's non-scientific staff with at least ten years' service (art. 3B (b) of the articles of association):
- Muriel Hilaire-Soule, Head of the Pasteur Museum (for a second term)
Three members not working at the Institut Pasteur, chosen for their general, scientific or medical expertise, at least two of whom work or have previously worked in scientific institutions or departments (art. 3B (c) of the articles of association):
- Geneviève Almouzni, CNRS Director of Research, team leader at the Institut Curie, Paris (for a second term)
- Marie-Hélène Verlhac, Director of the CIRB (Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Biology), Collège de France (for a first term)
- Claudia Pena Rossi, Medical Director, DNDi (Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative) (for a first term), to replace Pierre-Marie Girard, who resigned following his appointment as the Institut Pasteur's Vice-President International Affairs and International Network
Three members not working at the Institut Pasteur, chosen for their financial, industrial, business, legal or management capabilities (art. 3B (c) of the articles of association):
- Stéphanie Fougou, General Counsel of the Accor Group (for a first term)
- Inès-Claire Mercereau, Chief Advisor to the French Government’s Accounting Office (for a second term)
- André Choulika, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of the Cellectis Group (for a first term)
The new Board of Directors will take office on October 18.

At its session, the General Meeting also approved changes to the internal regulations to make it possible to set up foundations under the aegis of the Institut Pasteur.
