Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
Carnot Institutes are public research bodies recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for their commitment to developing R&D that drives industrial innovation.
The "Pasteur Microbes and Health" (Pasteur MS) Carnot Institute is composed of the six Institut Pasteur departments that deal primarily with infectious diseases (Cell Biology and Infection, Global Health, Microbiology, Parasites and Insect Vectors, Virology and Mycology); the units dealing with immunology and neuroscience are also associated with the institute. The aim is to develop scientific and technological innovations in fields related to infectious and chronic diseases, antimicrobial resistance and the role of the microbiota in health.
The Activity Report outlines the main activities carried out by the Pasteur MS Carnot Institute in 2018, in synergy with the Research Applications and Industrial Relations Department (DARRI), including the provision of funding for long-term projects with potential for applications, support for maturation programs, and measures to raise awareness of business development.
These activities are firmly in line with the Institut Pasteur 2019-2023 Strategic Plan in the area of technology transfer, with the aim of developing research applications and boosting partnerships with industry.

"Rendez-vous Carnot", a business fair set up in 2008, has become a key event for French companies keen to develop research partnerships and partnerships between academia and industry or to harness scientific know-how, expertise in technology transfer and guidance on innovation. More than 2,700 people took part in the 2018 edition, and there was a high visitor satisfaction rate.
For this event, the FINDMED Carnot industry initiative will be hosting a "health village" for representatives of Carnot Institutes in the area of health, including the Pasteur MS Carnot Institute.
On October 21 and 22, the Pasteur MS Carnot Institute will be taking part in SLAS in London, a symposium on advanced 3D human models and data analysis. Several teams with projects supported by Pasteur MS will present their technologies and have the opportunity of meeting industry stakeholders at their stand:
• The Multiscreen project by the Physical Microfluidics and Bioengineering Unit (Institut Pasteur/École Polytechnique/CNRS),
• The OMNIA project by the Bioimage Analysis Unit,
• The Biomaterials and Microfluidics Platform.
Pasteur MS and France Futur Élevage (F2E) have issued a 6th joint call for proposals.
The deadline is October 15, 2019. Proposals must:
• demonstrate strong synergy between partner teams, each contributing its own expertise,
• develop innovative approaches,
• justify the socio-economic impact of the project, meeting industry needs and aiming to promote innovation in industry (including in the long term).
