On May 2, 2016, the British scientific medical journal The Lancet published a special issue entitled "France: from social security to global health". It looks at how the French healthcare system has contributed to the emergence of universal social security coverage and France's role in health diplomacy.
This issue, coordinated by Prof. Jean-Paul Moatti, Chair of the IRD, is based around two articles and five comments, written by scientists and decision-makers in the fields of research and health in France and the French-speaking community. It also includes comments by two prestigious authors: the French President, François Hollande, and the French Minister for Social Affairs and Health, Marisol Touraine.
This special issue was launched on May 2 at a ceremony in Paris attended by Marisol Touraine and Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet.
