Focus on the role of the Delegate for Safety and Security

Organizational Note No. 108 specifying the duties of the Delegate for Safety and Security has just been published.

The Delegate for Safety and Security is appointed by the President of the Institut Pasteur to oversee the application of inter-ministerial regulations governing security and the protection of the Institut Pasteur's scientific and technical heritage.

The Delegate for Safety and Security's tasks are similar to those of Security and Defense Officials in French state-run institutions.

The Delegate for Safety and Security performs a coordinating role to protect the security of people and property (excluding the field of health and safety) and provides guidance and information in this area.

In terms of the Institut Pasteur's activities, the Delegate for Safety and Security’s missions include:

  • protecting national scientific and technical potential

  • ensuring the safety of international exchanges, including missions to sensitive countries

  • protecting classified national defense information

  • defense and business continuity plans

  • information systems security, through the Head of Information Systems Security

  • preventing radicalization


The Delegate for Safety and Security (François Thibault) intervenes in coordination with the departments concerned as needed.To support him in his role, he works with a number of different people with responsibilities in the field of security. Since 2018, these roles are as follows:

  • Nathalie Denoyés: Deputy Delegate

  • Stanislas Poiraud: Head of Information Systems Security  

  • Sylvie Chaput: Assistant
