Since it was set up in 2006, the annual Georges, Jacques and Elias Canetti Award has provided support for Institut Pasteur scientists carrying out research in the field of infectious diseases. The aim of the award is to recognize talent, encourage creation and reward the achievements of scientists.
The 2019 laureate of the award is Ludovic Tailleux, recipient of the 2003 Jacques Monod Prize, in recognition of his work on Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
The award was presented jointly by Stewart Cole, President of the Institut Pasteur, and Françoise Canetti. During the ceremony, the actor and writer Macha Méril read out a text written by Professor Georges Canetti about tuberculosis.
