Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The latest issue of the quarterly newsletter for Institut Pasteur donors – the "Lettre de l'Institut Pasteur" (LIP) – has just been published.
This edition contains a special feature exploring the impact of the gut microbiota on human health. Research into the microbiota is paving the way for an entirely new therapeutic era, and the Institut Pasteur – the birthplace of microbiology – is naturally at the forefront of this scientific field. Current research could influence the treatment of some cardiovascular diseases and forms of cancer, as well as psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. One project involving scientists from various disciplines (including microbiology, immunology and neuroscience) aims to shed light on the interaction between the microbiota and the brain – a link that we know exists but whose workings are still shrouded in mystery.
