Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The new MOOC developed by the Institut Pasteur, entitled "Emerging and Re-emerging Viruses", has been open for registration via the FUN platform since January 30, 2020. It will be available from February 17 to April 30, 2020.
The MOOC, led by Jean-Pierre Vartanian, Pierre-Emmanuel Ceccaldi and Hilde Angermeier, explores the question of the emergence of various pathogens responsible for potentially severe disease outbreaks, such as the Zika virus, SARS, Ebola, coronavirus, etc. It also examines the conditions that encourage the re-emergence of these viruses – both molecular mechanisms and factors associated with climate change, urbanization and rapid changes in human activity. It places particular emphasis on the One Health approach. The final chapters look at the epidemiology, surveillance, modeling, prevention and management of outbreaks at local and international level.
The course is available in English (with French subtitles). The free version of the MOOC is openly available online. For a small fee, you can also access a final online exam and receive a certificate. The "Emerging and Re-emerging Viruses" MOOC is part of the Institut Pasteur's online diploma in infectious diseases (DNM2IP).
This MOOC is supported by the Fondation IPSEN and the LabEx IBEID.
