Renewal of the Institut Pasteur's Carnot institute designation

On February 7, 2020, following the call for applications launched in June 2019, the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation announced the names of the 39 research institutes that have been officially designated as Carnot institutes. The Carnot status of the Pasteur Microbes and Health (Pasteur MS) Carnot Institute was renewed, and the Institut Pasteur will receive another four years of annual funding to strengthen its research partnerships.

Carnot, a label of excellence

The Carnot label of excellence was created in 2006. It is granted by the French government to public research structures committed to developing public-private research partnerships. The aim is to promote research conducted by public laboratories in cooperation with socio-economic players, especially companies.
Carnot research institutes prioritize partnership-based research carried out with and for industry.

The Institut Pasteur has been part of the Carnot network since the label was first introduced, in recognition of the scientific quality of its research and the professionalism of its technology transfer activities.
By developing research applications and transferring technological solutions to industry, the Institut Pasteur is well positioned to respond to global public health challenges and to generate own funds for some of its research.
Its goal is to help industrial stakeholders develop innovative products in the fields of therapeutics, diagnostics, vaccines and biotechnologies.
