"Pasteur Microbes and Health" Carnot Institute selected in the Carnot 3 call for proposals

carnot_entreprises.gif 1720_carnot_.jpg On July 6, Thierry Mandon, Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research, announced the Carnot Institutes awarded through the competitive Carnot 3 call for applications.
Carnot Label is granted to public research structures, with proven, high level R&D competencies dedicated to fostering innovation with industrial partners. The Carnot institutes (IC) are funded to conduct upstream research capable of renewing their scientific and technological skills, and an ambitious partnership research policy to the benefit of the socio-economic world.
 
Among the 29 Carnot institutes selected through a Carnot 3 independent committee chaired by Christian Lajoux, the “Pasteur Microbes and Health”  Carnot Institute (IC-Pasteur Microbes & Santé, IC-Pasteur M&S) directed by Jean-Christophe Olivo-Marin (Executive Director) and Daniel Larzul (Deputy Director) is replacing the “Pasteur Maladies Infectieuses” Carnot Institute (IC-Pasteur MI)”. Through an interdisciplinary research and integrative approach, Pasteur M&S aims to provide a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of host/pathogen interactions and microbes’ impacts on human health. In addition to the six research departments showing expertise in the field of infectious diseases (Cell Biology and Infection, Infection and Epidemiology,  Microbiology, Mycology, Parasites and Insect Vectors,  Virology), it gathers 3 research units from the Immunology department (Antibodies in Therapy and Pathology, Immune regulation and Vaccinology, Microenvironment and Immunity) and cutting-edge technological platforms through the integration of the Center for Innovation and Technological Research (Citech).
 
Pasteur M&S will address societal and economical health challenges, in a global perspective, aiming to foster the development of innovative products in partnership with biotechnology and healthcare industries. In the mean time, Pasteur M&S’s goal is to keep curiosity driven research at the highest level.
