Tackling COVID-19: the public expresses its support and thanks to Institut Pasteur staff

The Institut Pasteur, actively involved at a very early stage in the response to COVID-19 and supported by the entire Pasteurian community, has launched several projects and invested boundless energy and resources over the past few months.

It continues to rely on the generous financial support of sponsors for its work to advance research and progress a little further each day in tackling the pandemic. And alongside this outpouring of generosity, the Institut Pasteur also enjoys the undeniable support of the public. Their appreciation is in evidence not only in the countless messages of encouragement on social media, but also through a number of thoughtful initiatives such as baking and handing out cakes to staff on campus or decorating the campus entrance with drawings. These kind gestures and signs of recognition demonstrate the public's unwavering support for the work already accomplished and that is still to come.

Here are some extracts from the messages that have filled the Institut Pasteur's social media and some examples of the many generous initiatives to support the Institut Pasteur and its staff:

Since April, the 15th arrondissement branch of the organization "Vos Gâteaux", or "Your Cakes" – a group that got involved at a very early stage of lockdown by delivering cakes and pastries to healthcare workers and scientists – has been supporting the Institut Pasteur's teams in their research efforts to tackle COVID-19. Mouth-watering cakes and bakes have become invaluable weapons in our battle against the virus! This initiative is still ongoing and the Institut Pasteur would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to those who are using their culinary talents so generously and spontaneously to support its research. Thank you!
