A French study confirms the frequency of acquisition of multiple-antibiotic-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in those traveling to tropical regions

A large-scale collaborative study, sponsored by the Paris Public Hospital Network (AP-HP) as a Hospital Clinical Research Program, has revealed that half of all those returning from a trip to a tropical country will have acquired multiple-antibiotic-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.

This research was conducted by a French team composed of the infectious and tropical diseases departments at the AP-HP and the Institut Pasteur Medical Center, the Bichat – Claude-Bernard Hospital Clinical Research Unit, Paris Diderot University, Inserm and the French National Institute for Health Monitoring (InVS).
