CORONAVIRUS

Diagnostic tests for SARS-CoV-2 infection

The COVID-19 outbreak requires research and subsequent industrial development to produce specific diagnostic tests for SARS-CoV-2 infection. Ideally, these tests should be both reliable and simple and quick to administer.

Since the start of the outbreak, as of May 25, 2020, 41 RT-PCR tests and 80 serological tests have been evaluated by the National Reference Center (CNR Institut Pasteur and CNR associated laboratory at the Hospices Civils de Lyon). Reports on the CNR's evaluations have been sent to the French health authorities, which are responsible for establishing a methodology for approving these tests and drawing up a first list of approved in vitro medical diagnostic tests based on the CNR's evaluations and the specifications issued by the French National Authority for Health.

Here is the latest information (updated on June 26) about the tests for diagnosing SARS-CoV-2 infections (in French)
