Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
"Vivons Vélo" events in aid of the Institut Pasteur are fun group bike rides, on average around 25km long, open to people of all ages.
"Vivons Vélo" rides are organized in 25 cities across France by dedicated Institut Pasteur partner AG2R LA MONDIALE. They are part of a wider program of charity sports events designed to support the research carried out at the Institut Pasteur. The scheme is encouraging growing numbers of regular riders and newcomers to take to the saddle for charity.
With the Vivons Vélo rides, cyclists can clock up the kilometers in aid of the Institut Pasteur, with a number of targets to beat to increase the donation counter. As well as these events, the 300,000 members of the Vivons Vélo community can keep pedaling for the cause all year round with the Vivons Vélo application.
The counter, which was stopped on October 10, 2020, reveals that since the beginning of 2020, participating cyclists have covered 1,759,135km via the application or at events.
These figures also include the generous participation of some of AG2R LA MONDIALE's professional cyclists. For the 17th stage of the Tour de France between Grenoble and Méribel – Col de la Loze, six cyclists covered a total of 1020km (170km each), which were added to the kilometers already completed throughout the year by users of the Vivons Vélo app and participants in Vivons Vélo events to boost the charity counter in aid of research.
Thanks to this outpouring of energy, AG2R LA MONDIALE will be donating €95,700 to the Institut Pasteur for 2020, with the money going towards research on the topic "healthy aging."
