Cholera: study of the strain responsible for the 2018-2019 outbreak in Zimbabwe

Between September 2018 and March 2019, a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe resulted in 10,000 cases and 69 deaths. The Institut Pasteur's Enteric Bacterial Pathogens Unit, together with scientists from the South African National Institute for Communicable Diseases and the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health, participated in a study of the Vibrio cholerae O1 strain responsible for the outbreak.
