Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Technical Department and Citech have joined up to offer campus scientists advanced prototyping capabilities via the creation of a Fab Lab (production workshop) offering a variety of services.
Its aim is to help you with the design and production of your projects and provide access to prototyping facilities (3D printer, CNC, CAD).
Prototype engineer Albane Imbert is on hand to handle your requests. She will assist you with design work and organize manufacturing once you have discussed your requirements with her. She can also provide support if you wish to learn how to use Autodesk Fusion 360 design software.
The Pasteur Fab Lab has three facilities:
the mechanical workshop, whose suite of instruments will be gradually expanded to meet ever-increasing requirements,
an Open Fab Lab, currently being set up on the 1st floor of the François Jacob building, in the Tech Lab space. Here users have free access to CNC machines and 3D printers once they have completed training,
access to the external cutting-edge prototyping facility, Usine IO. The facility's equipment includes wood and metal numerical control machines, 3D printers with fused deposition modeling or ColorJet printing technology, 3D scanners, CAD/CAM systems, and laser cutters. Usine IO can accommodate a maximum of two Institut Pasteur staff at a time, and Albane will be regularly on the premises to supervise your projects. To make an appointment contact the Fab Lab.
If you have any queries relating to the Fab Lab, please contact Albane, albane.imbert@pasteur.fr, or ext. 8124, or ask to be added to the Fablab mailing list.
