Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The members of the Institut Pasteur General Meeting board met on Monday June 14.
Like last year, the meeting, introduced by Christian Vigouroux, Chairman of the Institut Pasteur Board of Governors, took place in a video studio in the François Jacob auditorium so that all the members of the General Meeting board could attend and participate remotely using Teams. A voting system was also implemented via a secure, certified electronic platform so that the members could vote in real time. This setup enabled the members of the General Meeting board to follow the various items on the agenda in complete transparency and to hold crucial discussions and votes during the meeting.
The members approved the minutes of the General Meeting of June 22, 2020. They also approved the Annual Report of the Board of Governors, presented by Christian Vigouroux, by an absolute majority of members present and represented, and were given a presentation of the 2020 accounts and budget forecast by François Romaneix, Senior Executive Vice-President Administration and Finance.
The meeting was also an opportunity for Christian Vigouroux and President Stewart Cole to present the Institut Pasteur's partnership with Université de Paris. This partnership represents a major milestone for the future of the Institut Pasteur. The aim is to pursue a concerted joint scientific strategy to build on the strengths shared by the two partners. It will aim to establish high-potential scientific synergies (strengthening existing synergies and links with the teaching hospital community and developing new cooperation) and develop projects to increase the impact of the Institut Pasteur's research (developing networks and technological platforms, mobility and hosting staff, training and partnerships with southern hemisphere countries). The partnership will also help strengthen the Institut Pasteur's economic model, especially with regard to contracts for PhD students, LabEx laboratories and funding earmarked for university sites. Finally, the partnership with Université de Paris includes an institutional aspect, with representatives of each of the two partners sitting on the other's statutory bodies. This requires an amendment to the articles of association of the Institut Pasteur Foundation to enable Université de Paris to sit on its Board of Governors and participate in the Institut Pasteur's General Meeting board.
On June 14, the members of the General Meeting board approved this statutory amendment by a two-thirds majority of its members in office.
The General Meeting board also elected 18 external members after the first round of voting. The following members were elected:

At the end of the session, Professor Stewart Cole again took to the floor to present some of the key moments for the Institut Pasteur and its staff in relation to the long-running pandemic situation. He also spoke in detail about the measures in the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan, which is now at its midpoint, and proposed that particular emphasis should be placed on a number of upcoming cross-cutting priorities to support the implementation of the Strategic Plan.
