Implementation of the Jobs and Skills Guide: employee positioning

presentation_rec.png Following the negotiations with the Institut Pasteur management and unions, and concluding the first round of negotiations on forward-looking management of jobs and skills (GPEC), the Jobs and Skills Guide has now been adopted and will be incorporated into the Institut Pasteur company agreement. It will be officially implemented on June 1, 2016.

The implementation of the Guide on campus involves positioning each staff member within a category, a professional sector and a generic job profile. During the week beginning April 18, all staff will be personally informed by an individual email from the Human Resources Department of the generic job profile that has been provisionally selected for them, in relation to their professional activities.

This initial employee positioning will be decided by the HR teams in cooperation with each employee's line manager, and if necessary also with the COMESP (if the profile falls within the Research category - research / research engineering / clinical research sectors).

The new job mapping system divides jobs into 3 categories (Research, Health, and Administrative & Technical), which are in turn split into 6 professional sectors. Jobs are positioned using this new system in addition to the existing groups and/or pay scales. This approach will bridge the gap between the former job titles and the new descriptions provided under the mapping system. Employees will be placed within these new generic job profiles but their pay scale and group will remain unchanged. The process will have no impact on professional positioning or salary level.

The following steps will be taken to implement the Guide on campus:

  • From now until the end of May, any employees who feel that they have not been placed in the correct professional sector and/or field will be able to speak to their line manager and local HR contact.

  • At the beginning of June, all staff will receive a letter informing them of their official positioning within the job profile that corresponds to their professional activities. This will be indicated on pay slips for the month of June.

  • The Jobs and Skills Guide will be put into practice in the 2016 annual and professional appraisals, which will start on July 1 and will concern all Institut Pasteur staff for the first time this year. Staff can discuss possibilities for career development and/or the feasibility of changing sector during these appraisals.
