CORONAVIRUS

New video from Stewart Cole: Research on new treatments to tackle COVID-19

"Dear colleagues,

We are currently living through a very difficult period. This pandemic, which has already claimed more than 15,000 lives in France, is affecting us all and is a source of fear and anxiety, for our families and ourselves. In his address to the French people on Monday, President Emmanuel Macron made a point of thanking all hospital staff, who are on the front line against the virus.

The Institut Pasteur is part of this front line as it strives to bring a scientific response to the current crisis. Defeating the virus will require the development of new treatments, whether in the form of vaccines or drugs. Several of the Institut Pasteur's teams are working tirelessly to develop effective treatments. I wanted to pay tribute to them with this latest video.

Until we find a treatment, it is by staying at home, adopting preventive hygiene measures and continuing to practice social distancing that we will be able to curb the circulation of the virus. I am aware of the sacrifices that this entails for all of you, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to you all for your efforts.

See you again soon."
