Pasteur Network: Evolution of monkeypox in HIV-positive individuals

A study involving Fiocruz evaluated monkeypox cases in individuals with advanced HIV infection. Three hundred and eighty-two people were involved, including 349 living with HIV. One hundred and seven patients were hospitalized and 27 died, all cases of people with advanced HIV immunosuppression. The study also described a severe form of monkeypox in patients with advanced HIV disease, characterized by CD4+T lymphocyte counts below 200 cells/mm3.
