PhD graduation ceremony

On December 11, a PhD graduation ceremony was held for students who completed their PhD on the Paris campus or in the Institut Pasteur International Network.

The PhD degrees were awarded by their respective universities.

The ceremony was attended by 34 PhD students who defended their PhD during the 2016-2017 academic year.

This annual event took place in the CIS auditorium. The proceedings began with a round table moderated by Stewart Cole, President of the Institut Pasteur (he will take office in January), Pascale Cossart, Head of the Bacteria-Cell Interactions Unit (Inserm U604, INRA USC2020), Professor at the Institut Pasteur and Permanent Secretary of the French Academy of Sciences, and Arnaud Echard, Head of the Membrane Traffic and Cell Division Unit and President of the French Society for Cell Biology.

This was followed by presentations of the PhD research conducted by the new graduates and the award of their degrees. All the assembled participants then enjoyed a drinks reception together.

The ceremony also featured artistic interludes and was brought to a close by a party organized by StaPa, the Institut Pasteur's association for young researchers.

Photos and videos of the ceremony will be put online in early 2018 on the dedicated web page.
