►Focus on: Collaborative call for proposals for the 1HEALTH DIM project
Fields of Major Interest (DIMs) are a flagship scheme within the regional research policy implemented by the Greater Paris (Île-de-France) region. They are designed to encourage collaboration in recognized target fields between networks of laboratories situated in Greater Paris. In December 2016, the Greater Paris Authority agreed to fund the 1HEALTH DIM, whose objective is to set up a major EU-wide "One Health" infectiology network, the only one of its kind in France, with a view to meeting public health needs. One of the program's specific goals is to develop new concepts, especially in the areas of vaccinology, anti-infective therapy and diagnostics, while also bringing a social and economic dimension to healthcare.
The 1HEALTH DIM is based on a threefold approach that incorporates environmental, human and animal health – three fields which are inseparable because they interact so closely together. The "One Health" concept emerged against the backdrop of climate change, world population growth, scarcity of natural resources and changing health pressures in human and animal populations.
On December 1, the 1HEALTH DIM launched a collaborative call for proposals. The call will encourage teams in Greater Paris to work together in the area of "One Health". The selected projects will receive operational funding (contracts for PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and engineers, funding for business development, etc.) and investment aid.
