Provident insurance/healthcare costs: what will be changing on January 1, 2021

From January 1, 2021, there will be changes to the provident insurance/healthcare costs scheme.

  • As announced, the company Verspieren will become the new manager of the Institut Pasteur's provident insurance/healthcare contract, taking over from the company Vivinter.

In practice :

•  Since November 16, we have been encouraging you to register on the new platform. The deadline to register has now been extended until the evening of December 21 (if you do nothing by that date, you will be temporarily affiliated alone (without your eligible family members), without remote data transmission and without automatic refunds to your bank account as from January 1, 2021).

•  Your healthcare card (carte de tiers-payant, which exempts you from upfront payment of healthcare costs) will be sent by post within 5 days of you confirming your registration.

•  You can also download it online in your Verspieren personal space (monespace.verspieren.com)

Please note that until December 31, 2020, Vivinter will continue to be your point of contact, both for the refund of healthcare costs and for provident insurance. (►contact details here)

Verspieren will become your new point of contact from January 1, 2021.

  • Contributions to medical expenses and provident insurance will also be changing from January 1, 2021.

Please note that the rise in contributions is entirely independent of the change in management company and in no way alters the guarantees and benefits offered by the scheme.

Why are contributions going up?

•  The latest results for our scheme show a high deficit for both provident insurance (benefits in the event of death or disability) and the refund of healthcare costs (medical appointments, medication, optical and dental cover). This deficit was caused by a rise in spending in 2018 and 2019 that was not compensated by contributions.

•  The deteriorating situation has led our insurer Swiss Life to ask for contribution rates to be raised by 5% for healthcare costs and 15% for provident insurance as from January 1, 2021.

In practice

The Institut Pasteur is committed to making social welfare a key part of its overall remuneration policy and ensuring that employees enjoy a high level of coverage.

The Institut Pasteur therefore covers a large part of the costs associated with funding the provident insurance/healthcare costs scheme.

The rise will be implemented by a majority agreement signed by the unions and soon available on Webcampus.
