Second edition of the "Hairdressers Against AIDS" program to support the Institut Pasteur

"Hairdressers Against AIDS" is a worldwide program developed by L'Oréal Professional Products in partnership with UNESCO. Each year, L'Oréal Professional Products rallies its community of hairdressers to pass on the message of prevention in as many salons as possible, reminding their clients that HIV/AIDS is a topic that is as relevant today as ever.

This unique program, launched 16 years ago, now takes place in 37 countries and involves more than 600,000 hairdressers. The 2016 campaign is once again using an innovative digital approach to reach as many people as possible, explaining the importance of prevention and education and encouraging them to get involved and support the Institut Pasteur's research into this disease. The campaign also includes a fundraising appeal.

Social media will again serve as a major forum to raise awareness and get people to join the community and rally to the cause. There are two ways those interested can get involved in the "Hairdressers Against AIDS" campaign: the first is to take a selfie that shows them symbolically cutting a strand of hair and covering it with a filter, then publish it on social media and on the Hairdressers Against AIDS Instagram page. The second is to make a donation to support Institut Pasteur teams working on HIV/AIDS research.

This partnership with the Institut Pasteur, which L'Oréal Professional Products also supports financially, was officially launched in November 2015 for a three-year period. This year the face of the partnership is Nicoletta Casartelli, a scientist in the Virus and Immunity Unit.
