Organizational changes to the Institut Pasteur's Senior Management Board

"Dear all,

At its meeting last week, on December 13, the Board of Directors approved two organizational changes to the Institut Pasteur's Senior Management Board.

On my proposal, Professor Christophe D'Enfert has been appointed as Scientific Director of the Institut Pasteur, replacing Professor Olivier Schwartz.
Olivier Schwartz had expressed the wish to be able to devote all his time to his Virus and Immunity Unit.

I would particularly like to thank Olivier for his work as Scientific Director. During his two-year term, Olivier made a major contribution to the Institut Pasteur's strategy by helping develop the scientific vision of the Strategic Plan and organizing the implementation of the priority scientific areas. I will have the opportunity to go into more details about Olivier's achievements next year.

The process to replace Christophe as Director of the Department of Technology and Scientific Programs is under way.

I would also like to inform you that the Scientific Careers and Assessment Department has been set up, led by Professor Patrick Trieu-Cuot. This department will be responsible for all the tasks and activities previously carried out by the Scientific Careers Department  and the Scientific Assessment Department.

Bringing these activities together in a single department will improve the coordination of career support and development for scientists and engineers (COMESP) and the assessment of scientific units (HCERES and CS). It will particularly help us anticipate mobility for scientists and engineers more effectively, in accordance with their career development aims and the situation of their unit, with the creation of new entities and the development of new thematic areas as needed.

This change will enable the Institut Pasteur to improve its response to future professional challenges by developing the skills required for research professions, in conjunction with the jobs and careers management strategy.

Professor Alain Israël, previously responsible for the Scientific Assessment Department, has decided to take retirement. He will remain at the Institut Pasteur for the next few months as Patrick's deputy to ensure a smooth transition. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Alain for his involvement and commitment alongside the Senior Management Board for many years.

Please take note of these changes".

Kind regards,

Professor Stewart Cole
President
