The recipient of the 2015 prize, Samuel Myers, is a physician epidemiologist and researcher at the Harvard School of Public Health. His research focuses on the impact of environmental and climatic changes on health. He has carried out several studies using diverse field data from a broad range of geographical areas to investigate the deficiencies in iron, zinc, proteins, vitamins A and B12, omega-3 fatty acids and folate expected as a result of the impact of climate change on CO2 levels. He has also demonstrated that the fall in numbers of insect pollinators represents a major risk for fruit and vegetable production, which could in turn lead to nutritional deficiencies.
