5th edition of the "Concepts and methods in epidemiology" MOOC: sign up online

The "Concepts and methods in epidemiology" MOOC, launched in 2014 by Professor Arnaud Fontanet (Institut Pasteur/CNAM), will begin again on April 16, 2018. Registration is now open via the FUN platform.

This six-week MOOC covers the key principles of descriptive and analytical epidemiology. Topics including key risk indicators, developing a scientific hypothesis, the conceptual frameworks used in population-based surveys, how to deal with sampling fluctuations, statistical analysis of results and interpretation of bias will be explained and illustrated by real-world examples and case studies. The notions of level of proof and causality will also be explored.

At the end of this MOOC, participants will be able to analyze scientific articles on these subjects and will have the grounding they need to move onto a more advanced course in epidemiology and public health.

Learners can also pay to receive an official certificate (equivalent to two ECTS credits for learners registered at the French National Conservatory of Arts and Trades (CNAM)).

More information about the practical arrangements and assessment methods can be found on the FUN platform
