New identification procedure for liquid nitrogen tanks

To identify who is responsible for a number of tanks of liquid nitrogen that are currently not associated with an entity head, a two-step procedure will be introduced.

  • Step 1: A notice will be attached to each of the tanks indicating the contact details of the person in the Real Estate and Technical Department in the Technical Resources and Environment Department (DRTE) who should be contacted to update the information on who is responsible for the tank.

  • Step 2: If no one is identified after the end of step 1, access to the tanks will be neutralized via a closure system, meaning that any users will be required to contact the same contact people in the DRTE to access them. This will be indicated with new notices fixed to the tanks.

The detailed procedure will be sent to all entity heads, assistants and health and safety officers. It will also be displayed at the entrance to all buildings and all rooms used to store liquid nitrogen tanks.

The procedure will be introduced at the beginning of March.
