Effective combination of cellular biomarkers for diagnosing bacterial or viral infection

A preliminary study led by scientists at Sorbonne University, the Paris Public Hospital Network (AP-HP) and the Institut Pasteur has revealed the potential of cellular markers as biomarkers of interest for the diagnosis of bacterial or viral infection.

In this period dominated by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, differentiating between bacterial and viral infections is particularly important and justifies the validation of specific markers at the point of entry to hospital, in other words in the emergency department. This research was published on February 18, 2021 in the Journal of Infection.
