Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
On January 26, 2021, the President of the ESCP business school, Professor Frank Bournois, and the President of the Institut Pasteur (IP), Professor Stewart Cole, signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding ("MoU"). This MOU aims to develop entrepreneurship programs and activities for promoting future innovators in Life Sciences and Health.
Louis Pasteur actively transferred scientific results or knowledge from the laboratory into society to meet unmet needs in our world and save people’s lives about 130 years ago. He was a great scientist and an entrepreneur minded innovator. Jean-Baptiste Say was the first person to conceive “entrepreneurship” and established the first business school in the world in 1819, now named “ESCP.”
By combining these two legacies, this MOU wants to capitalize on both party competencies to build up a new project at the crossroads of healthcare innovation and business development in the world. As a result, two different worlds meet to improve human being lives.
ESCP and IP mutually recognize each other's aspirations in entrepreneurship education policies and procedures and intend to establish a relationship for mutually beneficial purposes. ESCP and IP will develop entrepreneurship programs and activities dedicated to Life Sciences and Health under both Parties' names.
On the IP side, this MOU is led by the Startup Awareness (SuAw) office (JongEun Ihm, Head & Professeur Dominique Franco, educational program advisor) under the direction of the Education Department with full coordination with DARRI.
On the ESCP side, this MOU is led by Frédéric Jallat, Professor & Academic director of the Advanced master in biopharmaceutical management (MsM) under the direction of Professor Léon Laulusa, Exécutive Vice President and Dean for academic and international affairs with full support of the executive education department and the Dean’s office.
Following this MOU, ESCP and IP are preparing an Advanced management program in Life Sciences and Health for students, scientists, and entrepreneurs, launched on March 2022. Internally, this program will be led by the Education Department, in close partnership with the DARRI and the MAASCC.
