Several Institut Pasteur scientists recognized in the recent Legion of Honor and National Order of Merit promotions

On January 1, a special edition of the French Official Journal was published with a list of new promotions for the Legion of Honor and the National Order of Merit, with particular recognition given to those involved in tackling the health crisis. No fewer than 3,884 people received honors in recognition of their work in the public interest or their commitment to fighting the epidemic.

Four "civilian promotions" were grouped together in this list: the July 14, 2020 and January 1, 2021 promotions for the Legion of Honor, and the two promotions for the National Order of Merit which should have been published in May and November 2020. The promotions were postponed so that individuals who have been engaged in tackling the health crisis for many months could be recognized. They will be followed by further promotions in 2021.

The promotions recognize the work of four Institut Pasteur scientists: Pascale Cossart, Christine Petit, François Romaneix and Mirdad Khazanji.
