Central African Republic declared "free of wild polio virus"

The Central African Republic has not detected a single case of wild polio virus (WPV) since December 8, 2011 – as proven by the data from the WHO Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio, housed at the Institut Pasteur de Bangui. This result reflects the ongoing financial support provided to the Ministry of Health by international organizations and private foundations, including the Institut Pasteur de Bangui, for many years.
